Experts: Twitter Account Case May Blaze New Trails In Social Media Law | CNN

twitter-logo-1#legal #law #cnn #twitter #socialmedia According to Laurie Segall and Julie Cannold 2011, “Who, exactly, owns your Twitter account? It’s a potentially complicated question when an account is used both professionally and personally. Now a case regarding whether a Twitter account belongs to a company or its former employee has raised questions about the use of the social media phenomenon.

PhoneDog, a website devoted to all things mobile products and services, sued former employee Noah Kravitz for $340,000, according to the complaint filed in US District Court in the Northern District of California.

The lawsuit, which was filed in July, alleges that Kravitz’ continued use of a Twitter account he was “given use of” while employed with PhoneDog was a misappropriation of trade secrets and damaged the company’s business, goodwill, and reputation.” Read more > http://www.cnn.com/2011/12/27/tech/lawsuit-who-owns-twitter-account/index.html

Prep For Facebook’s Timeline Layout: 6 Must-Do Privacy Tweaks

facebooklogo1I don’t like Timeline sucks. According to Ian Paul, PC World, 2011 “Get ready for your Facebook past to come back with a vengeance; the social network is now rolling out its new profile layout, Timeline, to all users worldwide. Timeline is basically an online scrapbook that displays your Facebook activity in reverse chronological order going back to when you first joined the social network.

This means you and your Facebook friends will be able to peruse your social networking history with just a few clicks. Previously, there was no practical way to view your older activity on Facebook.

If Timeline’s debut has you wondering whether you can hide the embarrassing bits of your Facebook life before your new profile goes live, the good news is you can. But you’ll only have seven days to make any changes to your Timeline before it becomes your default profile.” Read more > http://www.pcworld.com/article/246371/prep_for_facebooks_timeline_layout_6_mustdo_privacy_tweaks.html

Analysis: Why Would Anyone Want To Be Yahoo’s CEO? | Reuters

According to Peter Lauria 2011, “There are few surer ways for an executive to lose a good reputation than to be CEO of Yahoo Inc. Just ask Carol Bartz or Terry Semel.
