#Entrepreneur #Business @Calliste on The 10 Minute Meeting

New York, N.Y. – We all know the popular adage, “time is money” and for majority of people that is true. Especially true for consultants, accountants, lawyers and other service professionals time is a valuable commodity.

image

“We conducted meetings every 25 minutes, two meetings an hour. Then we were introduced to the 20 minute meeting, three meetings an hour”, says Callistecomm founder and senior consultant Jerry Calliste Jr.

“So the thought crossed our minds. How about the 10 minute meeting, six meetings an hour? We can conduct 1 or 2 hours worth of meetings with contractors or partners and manage 6 to 12 projects”, says Calliste Jr.

Talk about efficiency. For Callistecomm that will leave approximately 37 to 38 hours of a 40 hour work week to manage and execute plans and achieve business goals. “As managing director I have an opportunity to cover more projects and further motivate my team leaders and save time”, says Calliste Jr.

In 2009 Mr. Calliste Jr. allowed Callistecomm to adopt the 40 hour, 4 day work week. Mr. Calliste Jr. through one of his joint ventures learned from a Scandinavian partner how Scandinavians balance work, family and personal time. Calliste Jr. recalls his European counterpart saying, “I am not going to work 60 to 80 hours and all weekend on our project like you Americans work. We believe Americans work to long.”

Calliste Jr. thought he had a point. Scandinavians are routinely voted efficient and having the best education systems when working an average of 35 hours a week and vacationing 2 months out of a year.

“Imagine if your business has 4 contractors applying the same practice to their meetings. Productivity should be through the roof”, says Calliste Jr.

Calliste Jr. and his team will not be the first company to explore the 10 minute meeting. It is a known fact that Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo, while at Google held 10 minute meetings (Ref: Gallo, C. 2006. “How To Hold A Meeting Like Google”. Bloomberg Business. Web http://www.bloomberg.com/bw/stories/2006-09-26/how-to-run-a-meeting-like-google).

In 2014, Entrepreneur magazine published an article by Drake Baer (originally posted in Business Insider), titled, “11 Ways Top Execs Like Marissa Mayer and Jeff Bezos Run Meetings Effectively” (Web: http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/240287).

Throughout 2016, Calliste Jr. and his team @Callistecomm (TW) will measure the outcome of holding 10 minute meetings. Expect a follow up to this post later in the year.

Must Read: Tutu: The Slow Genocide of the Rohingya (People) | Newsweek

According to the Honorable Archbishop Desmond Tutu 2015, “The credit that is due to the government of Myanmar for reforms undertaken over the past couple of years does not blind us to the ongoing disavowal and repression of its ethnic minorities, the Rohingya population in particular.

A country that is not at peace with itself, that fails to acknowledge and protect the dignity and worth of all its people, is not a free country. Freedom is indivisible. All must be invited. All, a part.

The Rohingya people were not consulted when the British drew the Burmese border on the map. With those strokes of a pen, they became a borderland people; people whose ancestral land traverses political boundaries.”

It’s Simple: #BoycottBlackFriday Spending| @CALLISTE

#itsbiggerthanyou @Errolcnn @DonLemon @BrookeBCNN @Sara__Firth @howardkoplowitz #barackobama #ferguson #politics #law #justfeelit

BND-inverseAccording to @CALLISTE 2014, “In the wake of the continued killing of unarmed youths in America I encourage all my associates, friends and family to #BoycottBlackFriday Thanksgiving holiday spending. We can do it. Plus it sends a very strong message to the establishment. Friday Nov 28 through Monday December 1 try to withdraw from the spending sprees. Support your local mom and pop businesses in your neighborhood. They will appreciate you more.

Years ago, in 1989 a friend and I were passing through Washington Square Park near New York University (NYU). There was a large rowdy crowd arguing about racism. We decided to stop and take in the debate.  A young black man dressed Rasta style “could-be” an NYU student, argued about racial issues in America with a young white “could-be” NYU student. They went back and forth. I finally stepped in and said, “It’s not about white or black. The establishment loves to watch us bicker, fight and kill each other. It’s about green. Dollars and cents. Wealth. How much money you earn and how you distribute it.” The story goes on a little further but you get the purpose of it.

In my observation and experience, capitalism fulls democracy and democracy supposedly spawns freedom. But are we truly free? I think not. In my opinion the minimum wage is a somewhat respectable form of slavery. A new economic slavery. “Go to college, get your degree and you will get a good job.” Really? Where are those good jobs? I read over and over again how college graduates can not find jobs. Well let’s debate this topic. Join in. I would love to read your comments.”

Is President Truly Empathetic or just Pathetic?….@BarackObama Condemns Ferguson Violence |@CALLISTE

@Errolcnn @DonLemon @BrookeBCNN @Sara__Firth #barackobama #ferguson #politics #law #justfeelit

Fires in Ferguson, Missouri

Fires burn in Ferguson, Missouri. Photo: ZeeNews.India.com

According to @Calliste 2014, “Yesterday President Barack Obama had the audacity to condemn the violent acts of the protesters in Ferguson, Missouri. Has Obama forgotten how he commands American drones and the U.S. military to fire on innocent and some times guilty people in non-confrontational countries? People in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen and other countries have not attacked America or Americans. Not one bullet. Yet he commands drone attacks against “could be” terrorists and their families, including unarmed woman and children. While the Ferguson protesters have a valid reason to exert force. Not permissible but still more of a valid reason than American troops and technology killing innocent people.

Lets allow ourselves to think for a minute: Possibly the Ferguson protesters feel the need to be violent because America as a whole is a very violent country. Gun toting, same culture killing…police executing…violence breeds/ begets violence. If the leadership at the top condones violence in the international arena that leader or those leaders should expect no less within the country.

I can go on for quite some time on this subject. But join in. I would love to read your comments.”

Streets of Ferguson Smolder Day After Jury Declines to Indict | CNN.com

#michaelbrown #darrenwilson #ferguson #grandjury #hollyyan #monibasu #gregbotelho

I will read the entire transcript before I make my complete views known. In short, I believe justice was not served. A trial would have sufficed. It would have shown the world, not just Americans, the world we truly believe in our penal system of justice. Right now it seems to serve “just-us” and I do not mean just us African Americans either. ~ @CALLISTE

According to Holly Yan, Greg Botelho and Moni Basu 2014, “More than a dozen buildings charred, set ablaze in a wave of fury. Stores — many owned by locals — looted, with shattered glass covering the asphalt outside. Shell casings on the ground, having been fired by unknown shooters. Welcome to Ferguson, Missouri.

This is what Tuesday looked like in Ferguson, hours after an eruption of rage over a grand jury’s decision not to indict Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson in the August shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.

Many of those who took to the streets late Monday into Tuesday to vent their feelings about racial injustice — rooted in the fact that Brown was black and Wilson is white — and police violence did so peacefully. Others did not, hurling bottles, batteries and rocks at police.” Read more > http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/25/justice/ferguson-grand-jury-decision/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

Republicans Win Control Of The U.S. Senate | CNBC

#midtermelections #republicanswin #rep #everettrosenfeld @EV_RosenfeldThe U.S. Senate

According to Everett Rosenfeld 2014, “The Republican Party has taken control of the Senate, holding at least 52 seats with several more races still left to call.
The pendulum officially swung in favor of the Republicans with the projections that Joni Ernst had won an Iowa Senate seat, defeating Democrat Bruce Braley. The Republican Party also renewed its lease on the House on Tuesday night. But Tuesday night’s victories may just be the beginning for the Republicans, with some experts saying that proving themselves as capable senatorial leaders may be more challenging than actually winning the chamber.

“That’s not victory, that’s step one,” said American Enterprise Institute resident scholar Michael Strain of a GOP Senate win. “Victory comes in demonstrating to the American people that when the Republicans hold a majority in both houses, they can come together by passing a policy vision that reflects conservative principles and will help the lives of American citizens. That’s hard, and that’s a challenge.”” Read more > http://www.cnbc.com/id/102151973

Former Pig Castrator Joni Ernst Poised To Win Iowa Senate Seat For Republicans | US News | The Guardian

#joniernst #midterms2014 #theguardian #senaterace #iowa #rorycarroll

According to Rory Carroll 2014, “Joni Ernst became famous by gazing into a camera and boasting of castrating hogs on the Iowa farm where she grew up. “So when I get to Washington, I’ll know how to cut pork,” she said. The campaign ad Squeal showed images of pigs, then came her punchline. “Washington is full of big spenders. Let’s make ‘em squeal.” Even Democrats laughed. Late-night comedians spoofed it. Few, initially, took it seriously. This was back in March. Ernst was an obscure, one-term state senator scrambling in a primary against rival Republicans for the right to run for the US senate against a favoured Democrat. Now, on the eve of Tuesday’s midterm election, Democrats don’t see the joke. Ernst, 44, appears poised to win Iowa’s senate race – and possibly to deliver a senate majority to the GOP.” Read more >http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2014/nov/03/joni-ernst-pig-castrator-iowa-win-senate-republicans

@Calliste I love this Midterm election ad by Joni Ernst. Very funny, cool and true. Good stuff. Joni’s got my vote.
